My current foster, Cora 19-015, was the most skittish dog that I have had in the 12 years I have been fostering. She came from a Commercial Breeder and was never socialized, so she was afraid of everything except other dogs.
She was very distrustful of people, so she was always in flight mode and always looking for a way to run away. After being here for 2 months, she started taking anti-anxiety medication to help her relax. With time, she has learned that we will not hurt her and good things come from humans.
Here is a picture when she first came in. Her head was always down and she had a very poor coat with no feathering.
Now 4 months later, she stands with her head up and after eating good food, is sporting a healthy full coat. She has become a beautiful Golden!
RAGOM has helped so many “broken” dogs get onto the road to their new Golden life. Many come from Commercial Breeders who want to breed younger dogs, others are surrendered because they are needing expensive medical care, and some are surrendered because their family’s life has changed. Every dog is different and has different needs.
